Watched football games last night, and played piano for some time between them. Went to sleep after breakfast and also slept after lunch. Woke up around 3:30 and did nothing before dinner. Worked on refactoring after dinner. Apparently, the plan I made at the end of last year (finishing part 3 in three month) is pretty unrealistic. One of the reasons is, I hoped I could make a big change about where to live when my current lease ended, at October. I shouldn't expect that. Even I finished the job I planned on time, it wouldn't be popular enough to support such a change at that time, which also means I have to stay here for another year. Actually, after careful consideration, I hope it wouldn't get popular in a short time. The thing is, what I planned to implement is rather basic compared to other programming languages. The main reason is, this is the first time I implement something like a compiler, I'm still learning. On the other hand, it will work in a very different context, running on just one device, serving one people, unlike all the programming languages so far. Programs written by them are supposed to run in a multi-machine context, maybe serve millions of people at the same time. So would the fancy language features I know also be usefull in this context? I don't know. I need a small group of core users to help me figure it out, and once it gets accepted by the majority, I have little chances to correct anything found a mistake later. And I will charge them. As a project trying to offer independency and agency, I believe the project itself should be independent as well, finacially. So all the money it needs to develop, maintain and feed staff like me should come from people who actually use it, rather than donations, sponsorship or investments. It's a simple and straightforward, and thus robost relationship. Of course, I know nothing about business, that's the best I can come up with so far. For current plan, I hope I can finish all the major features of part 3 before August. I feel it's a rather relaxed one. Slept around 8 (4.5 + 3.5) hours and completed 4 pomodoroes today - one for learning and three for work.
